I have completed migrating all memorial records into a new database. Some data was altered to allow for file and database migration purposes. An email was sent to all members with your new passcode number. The email for the log in is the same as it was before. Log in and visit your memorial(s) and if there are any problems with the memorial(s) please contact me and I will address the situation. Many references to Virtual Memorial Garden will be in the form of the acronym VMG. VMG and Virtual Memorial Garden are the same entity. Acronyms are awesome and I like VMG.
The first step in the memorial creation process is requesting an account. All it takes is to submit your email address from the membership page. You will receive an email with a passcode number. This number is used as your login credentials, along with you email address. It can take up to 1 hour to receive this email activation from VMG. Please be patient and wait. Duplicate request creat duplicate accounts which have to be manually purged after a 14 day waiting period. Note: Memorial time limit - Any memorial that has not been created within 14 days of requesting account will be purged (deleted) from the server. So please finish, or at least begin the creation process within that time span. Partially completed memorials will remain on the server.
2. Log In
After receiving your account info via email, follow the Client Login link from the main VMG menu. Enter your email address and passcode to access your newly created account.
3. Utilizing the Control Panel
You are presented with 4 menu items. Create/Edit Memorial, Upload Memorial Image, Log Out/End Session, and View Memorial you are creating. Once you are logged in you can access the panel by clicking the Client Login link. You will not have to reenter your email/passcode. You remain logged in until you close your browser. See Screen Shot
Create/Edit Memorial - Is the form you fill out with the memorial information. All fields on the form are required fields accept for, User Name (which is you) and Military Service. If User Name is filled, your name will appear on the memorial as the poster along with the date you posted the memorial. If the Military checkbox is checked then a flag will appear under the memorial image. There is a basic HTML editor available for the comment section of the form. See Screen Shot
Upload Memorial Image - You can access the upload image form. Only .JPG images are permitted to be uploaded. If you previously uploaded an image it will appear within the form. If it's the first time accessing the form a default image will be displayed. Browse your computer for the image you wish to upload, and press the upload button. Only 1 image at a time can exist for the memorial. If you upload a new image it replaces the old image. See Screen Shot
Log Out/End Session - Use this to log out of your account, or merely close your web browser window to end your session.
View Memorial - You can view your memorial after editing/modifying your memorial. To return to the account control panel just click the Client Login menu link again and you will return to the panel page, bypassing the login screen.
4. Memorial Comments Section
The comment section of the memorial form has a basic HTML editor feature which only works if you're using Internet Explorer as your web browser. Just highlight a word or sentence with your mouse and then press an editor button the enclose the word(s) in an HTML tag. The tags available are, Large, Small, Bold, Italic, and Underlined Font and 3 font colors. You can view the results by pressing the View Results button. That way you don't have to leave the page to view the edited text.
5. Guestbook and Flowers
As yet I have not included a feature for you to delete or edit the memorials guestbook or flowers features. I would like to maintain control over that area. If you would like any guestbook entry or flower entry removed or modified please contact me.
6. Wrap Up
It's very basic user interface. But if for any reason you encounter problems please contact me. That's why I am here. You are not alone. I will assist in any manner whatsoever. For help visit the Contact Page.
Uploading Images
Only .JPG images can be uploaded. Other formats need to be 1converted to .JPG format
There is a file size limitation on the uploaded image. The file can't be more than 500KB - 500,000 bytes, or .5MB. Any larger will have to be 1resized before uploading.
Portrait orientation creates the best results. When the height is greater than the width
The image will be resized to the best possible width and height automatically during upload
Only 1 image for each memorial, but you can replace the image with a new image anytime. Uploading a new image just overwrites the old image
Image transitions are applied automatically during image loading in memorial.
